Private Wild Medicine Page

Welcome to the private online page for the wild medicine course.
The aim of this page is to collate all the resources we are giving you to get us started whilst the course can't start face to face. We will add to it as we go along.
Thanks for your patience, we are very much looking forward to seeing you all face to face as soon as we can.

We advise watching the videos in order, starting with the introduction. We will add written materials and other resources as we go along.

The First Wild Medicine weekend - Medicinal Trees
.Next we have a series of videos profiling some of the different medicinal trees that you'll be learning about on this course.

The first tree profile is on the Cramp Bark tree, also called Guelder Rose, or Viburnum opulus.
There are two videos on each tree. Firstly, one filmed outside looking at the tree in question, the other is us talking together about the medicinal uses of that tree.

The second tree profile is the willow tree - Also in these videos we discuss the best way to harvest bark from medicinal trees.

The next section is on tasting herbs, doing a 'tea tasting' with intention and using herbs to take you on a journey.
Alongside these videos we have a chapter of a book by Stephen Harod Buhner  "The Secret teachings of Plants" and the chapter is called "Feeling with the heart" which we would recommend you read.

Here is a document with a list of tasks to cover the next few months for those of you who wish to interact, or have things to do to keep you feeling involved with the course at this point.
They are designed to help you connect to nature and the plants we are talking about in a range of different ways. You can chose whether or not to do these tasks, and you can do them even if you haven't watched all the videos yet. You can do as many or as few of them as is comfortable for you. You can simply save to list to do later when the course starts again. It really is up to you.

We hope to provide stimulation and engagement for those who need it without any obligation or pressure.

This handout contains written information about trees in general, and then also specifically about medicinal trees willow, cramp bark and birch. It summarises everything we've taught so far, and introduces an extra tree profile, the Birch Tree. There's a video to watch about using the birch as medicine and also talks about using the sap.

We are also uploading some useful medicine making information for you to start your herbal medicine making journey this spring. If you have any questions about the information in these handouts, then do get in touch, but we will make a lot of different medicines together over the course, so if you feel like you would benefit from practical demonstrations, then we will go through it all together. Here are the first two.

The Second Weekend - Spring Greens and Flowers
Picture
Coming next is a series of videos about spring herbs. These represent a small selection of some the plants that we introduce you to on the second weekend of the wild medicine course.

Firstly, here are a coupe of videos that we want to share with you as they relate to a lot of the spring greens available now. One of the themes of this weekend is using spring greens as tonics.

The first video shows some herbs that we can use when making a mineral tonic vinegar. You can gather any of the herbs we talk about in this video and steep them in vinegar, as explained in this handout.

This next video is one of a series of videos that we have put on our public youtube channel entitled 'Building Resilience' that we have put out in response to the current coronavirus crisis. You can watch all the videos in this series here, but we specifically wanted you to watch the outdoor spring herb walk that we posted in case you hadn't already seen it. It introduces some important spring herbs. There is some overlap with the previous video about mineral tonic herbs.
Here's some more information on spring tonic herbs
